Overcome Depression & Rediscover Joy
Do you find you wake up some days already feeling defeated? As if you’ve lost a battle you didn’t even want to fight? The thought of trying again today feels unbearable and the idea that things might ever get better seems impossible. You’ve stopped hoping for things to improve because hoping just leads to more disappointment. You’re also unsure if improvement is possible due to lacking direction on your life and not knowing what’s next; if there is a next for you.
You feel trapped in a never-ending cycle of hopelessness and apathy.
It’s exhausting to feel this way, but imagining life any other way feels impossible.
Being around others feels draining. Isolation feels like a safe have, yet deep down, you’re tired of feeling so alone. You want connection but the energy it takes to show up feels impossible. You know people care but hearing advice like “just go for a walk” or “be more grateful” only makes you feel misunderstood and further away from the. You have tasks you know “should” be getting done but you can’t seem to find the motivation to get them completed. In response, you get down on yourself; leaving you feeling even worse about yourself and your abilities. You catch yourself thinking, “It’s never going to get better” and wonder if you’ll ever know what life feels like without this cloud hanging over your head. You struggle getting out of bed but nights are just as hard because the thought of waking up to another day feels unbearable.

Reconnect with Your Life!
Picture living a life where the heaviness you’ve been carrying feels a little lighter. What if getting out of bed didn’t feel like a monumental task anymore? You could start your day, not with dread, but with a quiet confidence that you can handle whatever comes next. Imagine having enough mental space to actually notice the people around you; what they’re saying, how they care for you without the constant noise of depression getting in the way.
Think about how it would feel to go through your day without needing to brace yourself for every interaction or every task.
Imagine living a life that has room for something other than depression.
Picture having energy to tackle those tasks that once felt very overwhelming; the same energy that pulls you out of isolation and wanting to (maybe even appreciating) connecting with others. You find this energy brings back a sense of control. What if instead of thinking “This is just who I am”, you start thinking “maybe I can feel different. Maybe this isn’t forever.” Imagine a future where you trust yourself again. You know you can handle the hard days when they come because you’ve built a life that feels steady and manageable. What if you had goals or dreams again?
It is possible to live a life in which you see yourself as capable again.
Not someone who’s struggling every day to keep up, but someone who can show up in their life in a way that feels good.
One step at a time you rediscover a life and a version of you that is no longer run by depression. Slowly, you find the right tools to help you experience relief that leaves enough emotional room to focus on what matters to you; rather than the heaviness taking up all the space in your life.

Common Questions about Depression
“Is it possible to have never struggled with Depression until experiencing a life changing event?”
Yes, absolutely! This is very common and can be one of the most frustrating parts of depression. Similar to anxiety, it situations like these, where you may find yourself questioning how it's possible or simply highlighting the fact that you’ve never struggled with depression (or any other mental illness) until you started navigating the life transition (whether it’s a divorce or grieving the loss of a loved one).
This, often times, is the first thing you and I will process through. I will guide you through identifying your unique triggers of depression, how depression is manifesting, and its impact(s) on your daily functioning. From there, you will be provided with various tools/skills/strategies to begin reducing and managing depression despite never having a history of mental health challenges.
If you are experiencing this, know you are not alone. Many life altering events (or life transitions) can trigger mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression. This is a typical response and can be managed with a little help from a professional; such as yours truly!
“Is taking medication the only way to treat or reduce depression?”
No! Absolutely not. Can medication be helpful? Of course. Is it 100% needed to manage depression or any other mental health battle? No, not always. Let me explain. There are organic approaches to managing depression such as grounding techniques or (with the guidance of a therapist) working on rewriting problematic narratives. However, some may experience a more severe level of depression; resulting in a chemical imbalance in the brain. In situations like these, the organic approaches described above may not be enough so medication (such as SSRIs or antidepressants) can be beneficial in assisting you to reduce and manage depression.
I am a strong believer in medication needs to be paired with therapy for best results. Will medication alone be helpful? Sure. Is it what’s most sustainable long term? Not always. Most who are on medication don’t want to be on it “forever”. Pairing talk therapy with a licensed therapist/counselor while taking medication is the best recipe for reducing and managing depression; allowing you to live a better life as your best self.
It should be noted, it is YOUR decision whether or not you want to take medication. If we are working together and it’s something I believe may help your process, we will explore it. However, you get to choose if medication is the route you would like to take while working together. When working with me, it is not a prerequisite for depression counseling!
