How To Tell If You Have An Anxiety Disorder

how to know if you have anxiety disorder

As long as you are human, you will always be vulnerable to experiencing the wide range of emotions that come with being human; including anxiety. However, just because you have a moment of anxiety or stress or worry (curious about how to know the difference, read Understanding Anxiety Symptoms for Better Management), does not mean you’re facing clinical anxiety. While I won't provide a list of diagnosable symptoms (that’s what professionals are here for; no need to for you to take on that responsibility), I will provide you with a small check in questionnaire to determine best next steps.

Anxiety Self Questionnaire

It’s not uncommon for people to wonder if what they’re experiencing is normal. The questionnaire below will walk you through common experiences of those who battle anxiety. Check all that are showing up for you:

  1. From the outside, you seem like you are managing and have it all together but on the inside, your mind is constantly running. Leaving you feeling like you don’t have it all together.

  2. The anxiety, stress or worry feels all consuming sometimes and you’re unsure how much longer you can keep holding it in.

  3. You think through every possible outcome; trying to stay one step ahead of anything that could go wrong. In return, this causes more stress, worry, and anxiety and fatigues you further.

  4. You say “I’m just a worrier” or “this is just how I am” but it feels more intense than that. You question if this is normal and if it really has to feel this way.

If any part of this felt familiar, you’re not alone! You’ve been carrying more than anyone realizes and you deserve to release it all and regain control. If you’re not sure how to do that or want guidance in that process, click below to schedule your free 15 minute phone consultation. In this time, you will be able to share your battles and goals for therapy; in response, I’ll give you an idea of what our time working together might look like.

Here’s to living a better life as your best self.
